FoodPacific Manufacturing Journal - March 2020 issue is out!

FoodPacific Manufacturing Journal - March 2020
March 2020

FoodPacific Manufacturing Journal (we also call it FPMJ)  brings you the latest news on products and technologies - ingredients, machinery, packaging - that would be of interest to the food and beverage processing sector.

The March 2020 issue puts the spotlight on smart technologies from Aveva,  a company that provides solutions customised around a client's standards and resources. This is appropriate since a manufacturer, whether small, will need to invest in some form of smart technology sooner or later, to survive. To survive the competition, to enhance productivity, to meet customers' changing needs, and even to weather unforeseen crises like coronavirus.

The Editor's Note for this issue posed a question: "How do we continue serving our global clients at the time of COVID-19, and how can we prepare for a similar risk in the future?"
It's a question that's top of mind for all companies. There has to be some changes implemented within to ensure production is not halted, supply partners are there, raw materials are available, products get to their destinations in time, end products are safe, and the people that make all these possible are safe as well.

Current situations not only in the food and beverage industry, but in other industries, are testing the resilience of business models, the effectiveness of strategies, and the speed at which a company can respond to change or crisis. Some companies are taking advantage of the strength in retail as foodservice dwindles because fewer people are eating out.

There have been opportunities set aside during these times. Companies that participate in trade shows and conference for instance, have to wait and hope that the same opportunities come their way once the events push through. Fortunately, face-to-face meetings can be switched to virtual meetings. This is the mode of doing business for now.

Another to always keep in mind these days is staying healthy. In this issue, we have reports on how to boost the immune system, and an article on Singapore-based Kombynation, talking about the benefits of the fermented drink, kombucha.
