You can prepare for the future, based on the trends; you can even
be ready for the unexpected, so business goes on. Still no matter how prepared
you are, plans can easily be disrupted by circumstances beyond your control. Of
course, I'm talking about COVID-19, which you can imagine is a slithering
creature floating above city to city, claiming the weak. It is April, nearly
four months since the virus made itself manifest outside China, and the world
is still bravely putting up with it, however yet without a definite drug. We might
be paralysed by our personal fears – what will the future be like? Will it be safe for us when travel
restrictions and lockdowns are over? Or we can also stay hopeful, and be part of
the solution for the problem on hand.
Every day we hear about companies and manufacturers who are not
only supporting governments and the health care industry, but also producing
and donating sanitisers, personal protective equipment, masks, and necessary
machines. We have reported on some of these companies, as follows:
Cargill and its nonprofit partners are helping communities address the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 crisis.
Diageo
will donate neutral spirit - a 96% strength ethyl alcohol used in production of
alcohol beverages - to help governments and local manufacturers in the
Philippines, Vietnam and Myanmar combat COVID-19.
The
Tetra Laval group donates €10 Mio towards relief efforts, and also ensures
continued operations for uninterrupted food supply, during pandemic.
Flavours and fragrances company, Givaudan
commits to their role in the supply chain and to be a positive force throughout
the pandemic.
